In my experience, only 15% of the damaged hard drives I have seen are physically damaged

and would require special clean rooms and expensive equipment to recover the data.

About 85% of Hard Drives that I have encountered are not physically damaged

and can be repaired without disassembling the actual hard drive. (more)
